It was a passion for investing that brought the Harvard Gold Team together. This same passion is what sets them apart and engenders trust in the information they publish.
Susan Andrews knew from a very young age that her future would be in finance and investing. As a girl, she was more interested in understanding how to make the money she saved grow than she was in spending her hard-earned allowance on expensive brands. This is exactly why she pursued her graduate degree in Finance.
During the course of her studies, Susan noticed the lack of reliable information that was readily available to assist future retirees in planning for a successful retirement. It was at that point that she made the decision to bring together like minds to form a team that would fill that void.
During an internship with one of the top investment companies in the United States, she met Richard Sanderson and Laura Michaels. Richard and Laura were interning at the same firm, and the three became good friends. Their friendship stemmed out of a shared love of all things investing.
Richard Sanderson earned his undergrad in International Business and a Masters in Finance. Richard had seen how the trust his parents had placed in the stock market had been a gamble that had not always worked to their advantage. In fact, they lost thousands of dollars in the .com fiasco which set their early retirement plans back nearly ten years.
Laura Michaels attended an ivy league school on an academic scholarship. She then went on to Graduate School where she earned a Masters in Finance. For Laura, investing is personal. Coming from a background where little thought was given to investing for the future, she knew she wanted something more.
When Susan pitched her idea about providing a reliable source of information that could serve as a guide for future retirees to be able to retire and pursue their dreams, she found willing partners in Richard and Laura. Thus the Harvard Gold Team was formed.
Investing for the future is not something that should be left to chance. Nor should complete trust be placed in the hands of a financial advisor who may or may not have the best interest of their clients at heart. Providing a source of reliable information that equips future retirees with the knowledge needed to make the best investment decisions for their long-term future is the cornerstone upon which the Harvard Gold Team was established.
Retirement planning should not just be about getting by in the “Golden Years”. Retirement opens an endless number of possibilities to pursue activities and interests that had to be put on the back burner earlier in life. However, many retirees find that when they are ready to retire and now have the time to pursue their dreams, they do not have the resources necessary to turn those dreams into reality.
The Gold Team places a greater emphasis on gold and precious metals when making investment decisions. This is good advice given the fickle nature of the stock market. While the market fluctuates, and what might appear like a sound investment can change overnight, the price of gold has steadily increased in over the past ten years. The winds that batter the stock market have much less of an impact on gold. For example, natural disasters or a sudden political shift can cause a healthy stock market investment to plummet leaving the unwary investor befuddled and dismayed to see their investment practically worthless. The price of gold, on the other hand, has never been zero.
There are several different avenues that can be explored when it comes to investing in gold. For instance, one could invest in physical gold or in gold mutual funds. In addition, an investment in gold coins provides one with not only the intrinsic value of the gold itself, but also with the numismatic value that a collector might place on the coin.
The decision ultimately rests with the individual investor. Regardless of the decisions investors make when planning for retirement, it is the objective of The Gold Team to ensure that the path is well lit and investors are equipped with the information required to find success in retirement.
